(À PARTE) DOC Bucelas - Late Harvest 2018
Description
Bucelas is where we produce our white and sparkling wines. North of Lisbon, in the Trancão River Valley, this Demarcated Region, which has been in operation since 1911, produces unique wines in small quantities, much like the Carcavelos and Colares regions. The clay and limestone soils produce white wines with a citrus color, fruity flavors and aromas, and acidity typical of this region's preferred grape variety: Arinto.
Arinto – Esgana Cão
Produced in the demarcated region of Bucelas from the Arinto and Esgana Cão varieties, this Late Harvest is the result of a selective manual harvest, where some of the grapes were naturally affected by noble rot (Botrytis cinerea).
This phenomenon concentrated sugars, acidity and aromatic compounds, creating an exceptional wine.
It has an intense and luminous golden color.
On the nose, notes of honey, candied orange, dried apricot, ripe tropical fruits and touches of saffron and beeswax, characteristic of botrytization, stand out.
A rare and distinctive wine that expresses the uniqueness of Bucelas and the exceptional role of Botrytis in creating late-harvest wines of great elegance and longevity.
Tasting Notes
On the palate, it combines an unctuous sweetness with the vibrant acidity of the region's varieties, creating a remarkable balance and a long, elegant finish.
Fermented at low temperature and aged in wood for 5 years until bottling,
preserves varietal purity and Botrytis expression.
With 17.5% alcohol volume, high total acidity and naturally concentrated residual sugars, It has great aging potential (10–15 years), evolving into notes of dried fruits, acacia honey and fine caramel.
